THUGFUCKER – BIO
Former international aid worker teams up with Icelandic security specialist and former top model to create an international DJ supergroup. Certainly not what you’d expect from a group called Thugfucker – but then Greg Oreck and Holmar Filipsson often do tend to defy expectations.

One a New Yorker transplanted to Europe, the other an Icelander transplanted to New York. Both from a strong musical background with an almost obsessive dedication to the art of wild party instigation.

Growing up on an Icelandic commune full of some of the country’s finest political thinkers, Holmar eschewed his past and all the heady philosophy of his childhood to move to New York and search out more physical and visceral methods of bringing happiness to the masses.

Meanwhile Greg was in the midst of a successful (if short-lived) political career in America when he too became disillusioned with the duplicity and self serving interest of those around him. Disturbed by the void he saw in most people’s lives, it was in the dark depths of the New York underground club scene that he finally found his true calling.

Unbeknownst to each other, Holmar and Greg then propelled themselves along similar paths, throwing parties, honing their musical & studio skills and searching out inspiration from a wide variety of musical sources.

Then one late night, in a cloudy alcohol fueled discussion about the plight of the genetically Rhythm-Blind, Holmar and Greg recognized the depth of their shared passions. Thugfucker was born.

Resident at the prestigious superclub FABRIC in his hometown, London, Nathan enjoyed his musical journey at such seminal clubs as SPECTRUM at HEAVEN and the SUNRISE parties where the first generation of House Music entranced a whole generation. Nathan was there at the very beginning, ready to make his mark. Armed with a 10000 watt grin, and almost superhuman reserves of stamina, Nathan bumped and hustled his way into the hot, humid netherworld of the warehouse party scene, and in alliance with Mr C launched the legendary RELEASE parties. it was in 1994 however that he really cemented his lofty position in House Music's Hall of Fame when he and Terry Francis begun the infamous WIGGLE parties, and in the process, gave birth to musical movement now known as TECH-HOUSE. WIGGLE'S far-reaching reputation was officially recognized when it was nominated for "BEST UNDERGROUND CLUB' at the MUZIK MAGAZINE SAS awards.

In this respect Nathan can justifiably be called a musical pioneer, having spent the last 15 years as a kind of roving ambassador of Tech-House, laying down rapturously-received sets of loose-limbed, funk-fuelled House in an array of venues all over the world, such as: Space, Pacha, Bora Bora, Underground (Ibiza), D Edge and Lov E (Sao Paulo), Mint(Buenos Aires),The Milwegg, Stalker, Now Wow, Impulse, The Caves & Ofcorso (Holland), The Zouk(Singapore) Aria(Montreal), Folis Pigalle, RedLight , The Rex & FatKat (France) The Roxy & Summer of Love(Czech Republic) The Bomb, Turnmills and of course Layo and Mr C's club The End(UK)… to name but a few.

Nathan has also aquired a reputation as an excellent producer, having built up an essential portfolio of House and Breaks releases on labels such as Loaded, Visitor, Plank, 10 Kilo, Household, The End, Eukahouse and Funk'd (offshoot of Jamayka), picking up critical acclaims such as'Essential Release of The Month' for his and Nils Hess's"Get Fucked' albums. He has worked with the best, such as Mathew Bushwaka! Nils Hess, Asad Rizvi(Two Right Wrongans), Gareth Oxbey and Terry Francis. And remixes for Hardfloor, Kurtis Blow, DJ Pierre and most recently the acclaimed Will Saul track 'I got rhythm' reaching no. 3 in DJ Magazine's Breakbeat charts and appearing on his new album “Give me a Break”, on 10 Kilo.Having recently built a studio at his home in London, and on his 4th release with his new label “Is This”, Nathan thankfully shows no signs of slowing down. Like a fine wine he surely gets better with age, where his ability to read a crowd, taste in music and flawless mixing abilities never cease to amaze and astound.

The vocalist on our new release by Michael Manahan is Ilen Halogram, a professional singer, dancer & actress, who has performed in over 40 musical theather productions, and has performed/recorded with Chaka Khan, Peter Cetera (lead singer of Chicago), Howard McCrary, JahSun, Ras Attitude, The Goddess Alchemy Project, and many others.
Ilen is an accomplished songwriter, with a catalog of over 80 original songs. She was chosen by BMG & Billboard Music as one of the top 10 independent artists of the West Coast in 2007. “Regulate The Deep” features remixes by Dave Pezzner, Chad Neiro, and Jordan Strong.

Uniting Souls, the Seattle-based imprint that started as a leading underground events promoter in 1997, is b…usting forth in 2012 by already issuing its second stellar release of the year. This single features local Seattle DJ legend Michael Manahan and his debut track “Regulate The Deep.” Manahan has been active in the northwest US scene for over twenty years, co-founding the Oracle Gatherings and co-producing the Decibel Festival, two well-established north American dance music events. It’s amazing that after all this time Manahan had yet to release his own production, but finally the time is ripe and “Regulate The Deep” is the result. The track features singer Ilen Halogram delivering a gorgeous, somewhat dreamy vocal over a low-slung understated deep house groove. This atmospheric cut hypnotically draws the listener inside, whether on an after-hours dancefloor or at a sunrise ‘back to mine’ session. The remixes come courtesy of a ‘who’s who’ of Seattle house music producers.
Leading the charge is the incomparable Pezzner (Freerange, Smoke N’ Mirrors) providing a twisted and twisty deep house interpretation as only Pezzner can give. The build on this one should send the nightclub reeling.
Neiro is up next, coming off his recent, acclaimed Park Authority EP for Uniting Souls. Neiro gives the track a subtle, deep Chicago feel using cut-ups of the vocals as rhythmic accents in cahoots with a processed piano line.
Finally, Uniting Souls veteran Jordan Strong adds a pulsing synth pad and a snappy snare to his dubbed-out remix, creating a persistent, bouncy treatment to excite late night dance floors. It’s an undeniably cool package coming at you from Uniting Souls, and just the beginning of what’s in store for the label in 2012.

If you ever come to San Francisco don't go see the Golden Gate, rather Go see Nikola Baytala spin. His minimal techno will have you dancin'all night, with precision mixing, and solid track selection. He is very intresting to watch also, even more than Donald Glaude, because he really gets into his mixes, well not as much as the crowds do. I've seen many djs live everyone from Derrick Carter to Paul Oakenfold and by far Nikola had to be the best. Recently I checked him out and he spun before Ritchie Hawtin, Nikola rocked it way better and I left after Hawtin;s 4th record. Check him out sometime.

The Chicago house community has produced a number of innovative and distinct djs trained in the art of transforming tranquil dance floors into spaces of sheer bedlam and bliss. Their committed vision of undiluted musical appreciation, interactive communication, improvisation and basic integrity has brought greater attention to all the city’s great djs, including the genre busting DJ Heather. Widely regarded as one of the premier selectors in the nation, this Chicagoan demonstrates her skills and sharp deck acumen for the massives throughout the Windy City and the world at large with verve and undeniable talent.

2005 marked DJ Heather’s installment to the much heralded Fabric CD series, for the club of the same name. “With [Fabric] 21, I had a concept in mind; most of the material had to have been played at the club to give it an honest feel.” Judging by critics and house enthusiasts she has done just that. “At the end of the day to make a room full of people happy is difficult to do. You become part mind reader , guru, sensei, educator, entertainer and babysitter all at once. All the experiences I have had, made who I am today. As a person and dj. I love what I do.”

In 2006, DJ Heather toured extensively with Colette in support of their House of OM double disc release. Following worldwide accolades, in 2007 Om Records announced Summer Sessions 2 mixed by Om family members DJ Heather and Onionz. In 2008 she joined fellow OM label artists – Colette, Fred Everything and Andy Caldwell – on the House of OM tour.

With over 15 years of experience behind her Dj Heather has grown to become one of the Windy City’s main Dj exports. She is an artist who defies conformity, defines quality and continues to nurture her solid skills for soul music of the technological generation.
